In their first season post-Tom Allen, the Hoosiers had their best season in program history and their first-ever College Football Playoff appearance. Allen, who was hired as Penn State's defensive coordinator after being let go by Indiana in 2023, helped lead Penn State to the quarterfinal of the College Football Playoff.

After spending just one season with the Nittany Lions, the former Indiana head coach is on the move again, he just accepted the defensive coordinator position with Dabo Sweeney at Clemson. Allen signed a three-year $6 million contract to be with the Tigers.

Clemson fired their defensive coordinator, Wes Goodwin after he spent three seasons with the Tigers. Goodwin is currently being looked at for other defensive coordinator positions at schools such as Oklahoma.

Allen heads to Clemson with loads of experience from the Big Ten, which included the seven years he spent with the Hoosiers in Bloomington. When he was with Indiana, Allen had just two winning seasons, one of which was the COVID-19 season in 2020, when the team played just eight games and when 6-2. In 2019, Allen led the Hoosiers to their first winning season under his tenure, going 8-5.

While at Indiana, Allen coached in three bowl games, including his first one, where he was the interim coach before being hired full-time. Allen went 0-3 in bowl games with the Hoosiers, and as time went on, the program began to fall more and more.

In his final three seasons at Indiana, Allen went 9-27 overall, which eventually led to his firing in December of 2023. At that point, Indiana went on their head coaching search and landed on Cignetti, whom fans are very happy to have.

In his one season at Penn State, the Nittany Lions had the fourth-best defense in the Big Ten under Allen, allowing just 294.8 yards per game. Allen also helped lead Penn State past SMU and Boise State in their first two games of the College Football Playoff but was unable to get enough stops to get past Notre Dame to make it to the College Football Playoff National Championship.
