Running back Elijah Green is in the transfer portal according to an X post from On3.com’s Pete Nakos.

The former North Caroline Tar Heel and Indiana Hoosiers left the IU program just a week before the CFB Playoffs as Indiana takes on Notre Dame, Dec 20th.

Green was the fourth rusher on the depth chart behind Justice Ellison, Ty Son Lawton and Kaeleon Balck. Green had 201 rushing yards on 29 carries on 6.9 yards per carry. Green scored a touchdown in each of the first five games he played in for the Hoosiers.

Green's transfer portal move is somewhat of a suprise even in this day and age as he would have gotten a ton of carries next year splitting time with Kaeleon Black as they would have been the only returning backs with scholarships currently.

The Hoosiers only other running backs are Khobie Martin, who redshirted this year, UAB transfer Lee Beebe and 2025 signee three-star Sean Cuono.

The 6 foot 0, 207 pound former three star running back from Blessed Trinity Catholic in Roswell (GA) was the No. 159 rated player in the state of Georgia and the No. 105 ranked running back in the 2020 class per 247 Sports Composite

Green is eligible for one more season as he only played four games in the 2023 season for the Tar Heels.
