Taylen Kinney a five-star point guard from Newport, Kentucky will announce his college decision live from his hometown next Sunday, September 28th at 1:15pm ET according to On3’s Joe Tipton.
The 6-foot-2 point guard will choose between eight finalists including: Indiana Kentucky, Arkansas, Kansas, Louisville, Miami (FL), Oregon, and Texas. Kinney, who is originally from Newport, KY, now plays for Overtime Elite in Atlanta, Georgia. Kinney is considered a five-star talented combo guard and the No. 17 overall prospect from the 2026 cycle. Kinney is also rated as the No. 2 point guard and No. 1 player overall in the state of Georgia according to 247Sports.

Kinney has already taken official visits to Indiana, Kentucky, Kansas, Louisville, and Oregon. He recently canceled upcoming visits with Texas and Miami, and as recent as today took trip to Arkansas with John Calipari just ahead of his decision date.
The Kentucky native averaged 19.8 points, 5.6 rebounds, and 4.3 assists during the spring. He shot 54.4% overall, and 24.1% from three point range.
According to Joe Tipton of Rivals, he is 60% confidence that Taylen Kinney will end up at Kansas, with coach Bill Self and the Jayhawks.

Kinney originally started the TikTok trend saying "six, seven" in a video posted by the league in which he was asked to rank his Starbucks drink. He made a hand motion suggesting he couldn't quite decide between six or seven.
