If there is one thing Curt Cignetti knows how to do at Indiana, it is to get Indiana fans riled up in Assembly Hall. Even on a day when Hoosier fans felt disappointed because of the basketball team, something they are not used to, Cignetti was able to get the crowd going for another Indiana sport.
During the game against Maryland on Sunday, Cignetti and some of his players walked out onto the court to thunderous applause as fans wanted to show their appreciation for what this team did in 2024. The minute Cignetti took the microphone though, the crowd fell silent in anticipation of what Cignetti would have to say this year.
Flashback to about a year ago around this time, Cignetti made his first appearance to the Indiana faithful hours after being introduced in his first press conference. Back then, even before the winning and the success and College Football Playoff appearance, the first-year head coach was able to get this crowd into Indiana football and get them hyped for the 2024 season.
Now, back to Sunday, Cignetti thanked the fans for all their support throughout the season, but what he said next is what could make any Indiana fan run through a wall for this football team.
"Look there’s no doubt we accomplished a lot of firsts, but I want everyone to be clear: We are not satisfied," Cignetti said on the court. "We’re full throttle now on the 2025 season. Look, let’s be loud today. Go IU!"
Full speed ahead for 2025. 😤

Since the loss to Notre Dame back before Christmas in the first round of the College Football Playoff, Cignetti has been working tirelessly to rebuild this team that is losing a lot of key pieces. If there is one thing that Cignetti has proven, though, it is that he is a winner and won't go down without a fight, which is why these fans would truly run through a wall for him.
