Indiana defensive end Kellan Wyatt suffered a knee injury in a 38-13 over Michigan State that will sideline the veteran edge rusher "long term," according to coach Curt Cignetti.

“Right now looks like a long term injury, not sure if we’ll see him the rest of the season or not,” Indiana coach Curt Cignetti said at his regular scheduled Monday press conference.

Wyatt was injured in the fourth quarter when rushing the quarterback.  He appeared to collapse and laid on the ground until the training staff helped him up off the field. Wyatt did walk off under his own power, albeit with a significant limp.

Wyatt was having an All-Big Ten caliber season through seven games after transferring from Maryland. He has made 27 total tackles, eight tackles for loss and 2.5 sacks.

The Hoosiers will turn to Stephen Daley to replace Wyatt. Daley is a transfer from Kent State and has played well with 7.5 tackles for loss and 3.5 sacks.

After transferring in from Maryland during the offseason, Wyatt has been one of Indiana’s most impactful players on the defensive side of the ball.  The senior could impact the Hoosiers this season and possibly next. Over the past 2 seasons at Maryland, Wyatt accounted for 64 tackles, 14 TFLs, 7.5 sacks, 1 PBU, & 2 forced fumbles.

This was his final season of eligibility remaining but with missing the season he could possibly apply for a medical hardship. It would be unlikely with him being a senior and playing in seven games this season but the NCAA is very unpredictable as we all know.

The No. 2 Indiana Hoosiers host a Big Ten battle versus the UCLA Bruins on Saturday, October 25, 2025 at Memorial Stadium (Bloomington, IN) at Noon. The game will be featured on Fox's Big Noon Kickoff.
