The Indiana Hoosiers are the National Champions, and quarterback Fernando Mendoza was deservedly crowned as the MVP of the College Football Playoff title game.
Afterwards, in a moment that should have been as picture-perfect as any other moment in Mendoza's young life, the Indiana quarterback was completely disrespected.
Instead of going up to Mendoza and shaking his hand to congratulate him on the career-defining win, Miami quarterback Carson Beck simply walked off the field and into the locker room.
Beck's decision to give Mendoza the cold shoulder and entirely ignore the customary post-game ritual of the starting quarterbacks meeting in the middle of the field was immature and something that shouldn't be accepted, no matter how much a loss hurts.
Carson Beck definition of bad sport after National Championship
Beck didn't have a great game. His performance in the first half was a disaster, and his interception with just 44 seconds left on the clock cemented the Hoosiers as the National Champions.
However, he was the older quarterback in the matchup and had the perfect opportunity to show everyone, including NFL general managers and scouts, that his maturity can shine even in the lowest of moments.
Instead, he blew off the people he should have at the very least given a handshake to, and showed everyone exactly why Mendoza deserved all of the praise after the matchup.

Mendoza is set to be the No. 1 pick in the 2026 NFL Draft. After leading the Canes to the National Championship, Beck was climbing the mock draft projections until his interceptions, and definitely before his lack of maturity and sportsmanship was on full display.
These aren't just kids; Beck is 23 years old at the end of the day and has played in his fair share of big-time, nationally-broadcast games. Just tell Mendoza congratulations, and all would be well.
At the end of the day, Mendoza will still sleep well at night... especially with his Heisman Trophy, National Championship MVP award, and more tucked into bed next to him.
