There has been a lot of talk among Indiana Hoosiers fans about wanting Mike Woodson gone after this season. Indiana has always been a basketball program that prides itself on its winning ability and high-level competition. However, this season, the Hoosiers have struggled to meet the expectations of Hoosier basketball.
The Hoosiers have six losses on the season with only two of them coming against a ranked opponent. Of those six losses, all but one have been by a margin of 15 points or more. The early losses to Louisville and Gonzaga were not pretty, but the Hoosiers felt they could finish off non-conference play strong and start off hot in the Big Ten. They did just that, but have since hit a rough patch, losing three of their last four games.
The "Fire Woodson" chants even broke out a few games ago in the Indiana student section against Illinois, a game where the crowd was very thin by the final buzzer. Woodson definitely has not been a fan favorite in the last two seasons, but he keeps finding ways to stay around, and his latest recruit could have just bought him another year.
Indiana just got a commitment from 20-year-old Bosnian wing Harun Zrno, who, by the way, is also 6-foot-7 and is known as a sharpshooter. Zrno chose Indiana over other big programs such as Kansas State, Gonzaga, Georgia Tech, and Big Ten rivals Rutgers and Wisconsin.
Zrno chose to come to Indiana because he believes he is going to be able to grow the most as a Hoosiers and one thing he said in his statement should catch the eyes of every reader.
"I chose Indiana because they're really great people and I really see myself working well with them," Zrno told DuSahwn London with 247Sports in an interview. "I think I can grow, and they can help me reach all my goals in the future. They have a really good history behind them, and I'll have a great opportunity to play right away, have a good role, and find myself on the court."
Zrno mentioned how he would have a great opportunity to play right away, a promise that Woodson himself would have had to make. So if Woodson is gone, Zrno could choose to go somewhere else as well. If Indiana wants to keep this international star, then they probably have to keep Woodson, too. it may not make some Hoosier fans happy, but that's college sports nowadays.
