Curt Cignetti has had some memorable quotes in his one full season in Bloomington, like “Purdue sucks… and so does Michigan and Ohio State!”, “I win. Google me.”

‘If we go to a bowl game, it’s a great year,’ bullshit. That’s not the goal. The goal is to be the best.”

2. Big Ten Preseason Media Poll

Indiana was picked to finish 17th out of 18 teams in the preseason Big Ten poll, and oddsmakers set the Hoosiers’ win total at 5.5 games.

Cignetti shattered most expectations by going 11-2 and reaching the College Football Playoff berth in his first year, where will Indiana come in ranked in year 2 of the Cignetti era?

Where will Indiana rank amongst the other 17 teams in the B1G this preseason?

3. The Fernando Mendoza Hype

The 6’5”, 225 pound signal-caller and Cal transfer Fernando Mendoza has seen a ton of hype this off-season from the media. The junior will replace Kurtis Rourke who was drafted in the 7th round by the San Fransisco 49ers. Rourke had the best year from a quarterback in IU history, even finishing eight overall in the Heisman rankings but Mendoza is expected to exceed those numbers and even the 11-2 record.

His ball protection, processing and anticipation must be more consistent in 2025, but Mendoza has a chance to be high on NFL draft boards next spring.

Mendoza threw for 3,004 yards, 16 touchdowns and just six interceptions, despite a horrible offensive line that allowed the fifth-most sacks per game in all of FBS.

4. What will Aiden Fisher, Mikail Kamara and Elijah Sarratt do at the podium?

As Indiana takes the stage during Big Ten Media Days on Tuesday in Las Vegas they will be led by seniors Fisher, Kamara and Sarratt all who transferred from James Madison with Curt Cignetti.

5. Retooling down the offensive line, lead by Pat Coogan

Left Tackle- Carter Smith, Left Guard- Khalil Benson Center- Pat Coogan, Right Guard- Bray Lynch, Right Tackle- Zen Michalski or Tyler Stephens is the projected starting lineup at offensive line for the Hoosiers in 2025.

The offensive line lost starters Mike Katic and Trey Wedig due to graduation but hit the porta hard adding depth with Coogan, Benson, and Michalski.

he offensive line very well could be Indiana’s best position group this season. All six potential starters have a wealth of experience and will likely all play a role in protecting Mendoza this season.
