4-star Miami basketball transfer has Indiana Hoosiers in top 5 landing spots

Indiana head coach Darian DeVries is slowly but surely building his roster through the transfer portal, and landing this 4-star guard could be a huge lift for the program.

Indiana basketball is going through a complete rebuild right now, literally. After the season, when Mike Woodson stepped as the head coach of the Hoosiers and IU hired Darian DeVries from West Virginia, it was like a mass exodus in Bloomington as the Hoosiers lost every single player on their roster.

DeVries has since been able to make a few commitments, the first coming from his own son, Tucker DeVries, who has followed his father since his days at Drake. DeVries has also landed, Conor Enright and Reed Bailey, but he is going to need a lot more players looking Indiana's way if he wants to excel in his first season with the Hoosiers.

Luckily, a few players are showing Indiana interest, including 4-star Miami basketball transfer Nijel Pack.

4-star Miami basketball transfer Nijel Pack is looking to transfer again, listing Indiana as one of top 5 schools

Pack has spent five years in college basketball, starting out his career at Kansas State for two seasons before transferring to Miami for three seasons. It can be presumed that this would be Pack's final season in college, so for Indiana, it would be a short term fix for what could ultimately become a long term problem for DeVries.

Landing a player like Pack for next season could still be huge for Indiana, though, even if he is around for just one season. As a 4-star transfer, according to 247Sports, Pack has averaged 14.3 points per game throughout his five-year collegiate career, 3.1 rebounds, and 3.0 assists. In the 2024-2025 season, Pack only played in nine games before being sidelined with a nagging foot/ankle injury.

While Pack may not be an explosive scorer like Tucker DeVries or Enright, he can certainly facilitate plays well as a true point guard. He showed that ability in his first two seasons at Kansas State. Now Indiana obviously has some competition for Pack as his former school, KSU, is also in his top five, but DeVries is battling other big programs such as Kansas, Clemson, and Oklahoma.

One thing that DeVries and the Hoosier have going for them in trying to lure Pack to Bloomington is the fact that Pack is an Indiana native, so this could truly be a coming home story for the young guard. Since DeVries is having to build his program from the ground up, having a sure-handed point guard with lots of experience could be exactly what Indiana needs to help convince other players to come out of the transfer portal.
