Indiana basketball has never beaten the Cleveland State Vikings

  • Overall series record: 0-1
  • First matchup: March 13, 1986
  • Last matchup: March 13, 1986
  • Last Score: Cleveland State 83, Indiana 79

Though they are a public school in Ohio, the eastern neighbor to Indiana, Cleveland State has never been scheduled by Indiana. Their lone matchup with the longtime Horizon League program actually came in the NCAA Tournament and it’s a game Hoosiers fans still don’t want to remember.

After finishing second in the Big Ten, the Hoosiers earned a 4-seed in the 1986 NCAA Tournament but had their journey stopped immediately by Cleveland State. Steve Alford had 24 points but Clinton Ransey (27 points) and the Vikings were just a bit better, scoring a rare upset for a 13-seed.
