While Jalen Hood-Schifino earned his second Big Ten Freshman of the Week award, Trayce Jackson-Davis was named Co-Big Ten Player of the Week with a rival by the Big Ten Conference.

Both Indiana basketball stars made appearances for the Big Ten weekly awards, along with a rival from Purdue, Zach Edey. Edey and Trayce Jackson-Davis were named Co-Big Ten Players of the Week, while Jalen Hood-Schifino was named Big Ten Freshman of the Week after Saturday’s performance against Ohio State.

Jackson-Davis has been named the Big Ten Player of the Week for the second straight week, which is also just his second time being named this season. The only other Big Ten players to be named Big Ten Player of the Week multiple times this season are Zach Edey (now five times) and Hunter Dickinson (twice).

For the second time in his career, Hood-Schifino earned himself Big Ten Freshman of the Week, an award that has been handed out weekly to Big Ten freshmen, and now the Indiana freshman joins only Brice Sensabaugh (Ohio State) and Fletcher Loyer (Purdue) as the only freshmen to earn the award multiple times this season.

Jalen Hood-Schifino’s weekly stats

@ MINN: 38 MIN | 6 PTS | 6 REB | 4 AST | 2 STL | 2/11 FG | 0/3 3PT | 2/2 FT | 1 TOV

Coming off his worst shooting game since November 25, the freshman guard did a bit of everything because his shot was yet again off for the Hoosiers. From handling pressure against the Gophers to distributing the ball and anchoring the defense, Hood-Schifino made his presence known, even in a game where nothing seemed to be going the Hoosiers’ way.

vs. OSU: 32 MIN | 24 PTS | 1 REB | 3 AST | 1 BLK | 2 STL | 8/12 FG | 6/9 3PT | 2/2 FT | 1 TOV

Finally, Hood-Schifino found his groove. The freshman five-star poured in 11 of the Hoosiers’ first 13 points of the game and recorded 20 points and five three-pointers in the first half. If not for Hood-Schifino, this game would’ve fallen on the shoulder of Jackson-Davis, who seemed a bit off himself this game.

Trayce Jackson-Davis’ weekly stats

@ MINN: 39 MIN | 25 PTS | 21 REB | 2 AST | 6 BLK | 11/19 FG | 3/6 FT | 3 TOV

Every point, rebound, and block was needed from Trayce Jackson-Davis for Indiana basketball to pull away from Minnesota in this trap game. Jackson-Davis is the only power conference player with 20+ points 20+ rebounds, and 5+ blocks in a game over the last decade. I’d say that’s deserving of Big Ten Player of the Week.

vs. OSU: 33 MIN | 18 PTS | 10 REB | 6 AST | 2 BLK | 1 STL | 8/18 FG | 2/4 FT | 3 TOV

In a game where Jackson-Davis missed 10 shots, mostly around the hoop, he needed someone else to stand up. Luckily that was Jalen Hood-Schifino, who poured in 24 points for the Hoosiers. Now his shot wasn’t falling, but Jackson-Davis brought the energy on both ends of the floor and logged his third straight double-double.
