Malik Reneau hopefully earned more playing time for Indiana basketball
Freshman forward, Malik Reneau, scored all of his 10 points off the bench in the first half of Indiana basketball‘s win over Minnesota on Wednesday night. Has he been playing well enough to earn some more playing time for Coach Woodson?
From the North Carolina game to the Iowa game on January 5, Reneau averaged just 3.9 points and 2.9 rebounds on 41.2 percent shooting from the field in an 8-game stretch, which included games against Arizona and Kansas.
After beginning his college career averaging 10.7 points and 4.7 rebounds on 63.6 percent shooting from the field in his first five games, the freshman forward had struggled to get any sort of rhythm on the floor and seemed to be getting lost in the rotation for Indiana basketball.
Since that Iowa game, Reneau has been contributing solid numbers off the bench for Indiana basketball, averaging 7.0 points and 3.8 rebounds on 60.0 percent shooting from the field in just 16.0 minutes per game.
In the game against Minnesota, Reneau scored all 10 of his points in the first half and hardly logged a full minute in the second half. Whether that was on the coaching staff or actual matchup problems defensively, it seems like the consistency on the offensive end is worth giving Reneau a tick in minutes on the floor, even alongside Trayce Jackson-Davis.
Malik Reneau Stat Line Prediction vs. Ohio State
22 MIN | 13 PTS | 6 REB | 5/8 FG | 3/5 FT | 2 TOV | 1 BLK
Do we see the Malik Reneau of recent who has been pretty efficient with his time on the floor? Can Reneau handle the likely physicality that Ohio State will bring to the floor? Does the freshman deserve to be on the floor when it matters most?
