Trayce Jackson-Davis nearly perfect & more takeaways against Illinois
#2. Jalen Hood-Schifino was in complete control in the first half, but what happened in the second half?
Even on a night where his shot wasn’t really falling and the defense was trying to frustrate the five-star freshman, Hood-Schifino ended up with a decent stat line for a guy that looked like he broke a finger and playing in foul trouble most of the game.
In 31 minutes, Hood-Schifino finished with 10 points on 5-for-12 shooting, three rebounds, four assists, one steal, four turnovers, and four personal fouls. Shockingly enough, Jalen did not attempt a three-point shot even though he knocked down five three-pointers in consecutive games just two weeks earlier.
If I’m not mistaken, it seems as though Hood-Schifino only attempted one shot in the second half, where he did turn the ball over multiple times, got called for fouls, and seemed to hurt his finger pretty bad on a play. Even with all of that in mind, without Hood-Schifino, the Hoosiers don’t even come close to winning this game.
