#4. I don’t understand Miller Kopp’s unwillingness to shoot, but he’s been the defensive leader we need
Yet another game where our best shooter from beyond the arc takes three or fewer shot attempts and two or fewer attempts from three-point range.
Kopp registered six points on 2-for-3 shooting from the field, 1-for-1 from three, and 1-for-3 from the charity stripe in 33 minutes. Along with those offensive numbers, Kopp recorded three steals and was the primary reason that Matthew Mayer couldn’t get anything going offensively.
Yes, the offense is not running specific plays for Kopp, but, in my experience as a coach and basketball fanatic, shooters know how to get open in any offensive set. There were two or three opportunities that Kopp passed up on a slightly pressured play where he could have let it go from deep but decided against it.
If the Hoosiers want to succeed this season, Kopp needs to let it fly from deep and we will live with the consequences if his shots don’t fall.
