#4. What happened to the Hoosiers’ depth?

Maybe you look at the box score from the loss at Penn State and say, “the bench gave us 20 points, that’s not all that bad.”

From my point of view, 11 of those 20 points came from Tamar Bates, who should be in the starting lineup and scored six of those 11 in garbage time, and Reneau scored four of his seven points over the last five minutes.

I understand that our bench would be deeper if Race Thompson and Xavier Johnson were healthy, but it looks like the rest of our role players look inexperienced. Jordan Geronimo posted six points, six rebounds, a steal, and two blocks in 23 minutes of action.

Though I thought he didn’t deserve a starting spot in Wednesday’s game, he actually showed some energy early and responded to the bad showing against Northwestern. Six of the Hoosiers 10 players that appeared in Wednesday’s game posted seven or fewer points.
