Three Hawkeyes to keep an eye on for Indiana basketball on Thursday
1. Kris Murray – Junior Forward – #24
2022-23 stats: 10 GP, 32.7 MIN, 20.4 PPG, 9.8 REB, 1.1 BLK, 50.3 FG%, 2.3 3PM, 37.1 3P%
Brother of Keegan Murray, the No. 4 overall pick in the 2022 NBA Draft by the Sacramento Kings, Kris Murray looks to emerge from the shadows of his brother and establish his own dominance as the leader of this Hawkeyes team.
So far in 2022-23, Murray has done so. Logging three 30-point games so far and incredible shooting numbers at times, Murray has become the primary scorer and target for opposing defenses who were hoping to escape the Murray name after Keegan’s effectiveness last season.
In his last game against Penn State on January 1, Murray posted 32 points, a career-high for the junior forward on 12-for-20 shooting in 40 minutes played. Last season against Indiana, Murray had one of his best games as a sophomore alongside his brother, scoring 29 points on 12-for-18 shooting from the field and adding 11 rebounds off the bench to help carry Iowa to its win in the regular season.
