Three Elon players to pinpoint in Tuesday’s matchup for Indiana basketball

No. 18 Indiana basketball faces the Elon Phoenix on Tuesday after back-to-back losses against top-10 opponents. Who do the Hoosiers need to pinpoint?

Elon has lost 10 of their last 11 games with their lone win coming against Johnson & Wales (NC), a member of the USCAA and not even classified as any division program. The Phoenix have yet to play a major conference team this season and have lost all five of their road games this season by an average margin of 12.2 points.

First-year head coach, Billy Taylor, has three players averaging double digits and two players that have already knocked down 20+ three-pointers in 12 games. Although the team shoots just 28.6 percent from deep, certain players can get hot in spurts, which could hurt the Hoosiers.

3. Zac Ervin – Senior Guard/Forward – #14

2022-23 stats: 12 GP, 28.5 MIN, 10.5 PPG, 1.4 TOV, 34.7 FG%, 2.3 3PM, 32.9 3P%

Ervin is playing in his third season at Elon as a senior, shooting 35.0 percent in his career from three-point range, and 85 of his 121 shot attempts (70.2 percent) this season have been from beyond the arc.

Ervin has led the Phoenix in scoring in just one game this season and averages just 8.4 points on 31.4 percent shooting from the field and 25.0 percent from three in five road games this season.

Over his last four games, Ervin is shooting 46.7 percent from beyond the arc (14-for-30) and is averaging 13.3 points. 30 of his 42 shot attempts in that span have been three-point attempts. Fair to say, this senior is going to fire away in Assembly Hall.
