Indiana basketball is not ready & more takeaways vs. No. 8 Kansas
#4. Indiana’s defense looks like Archie Miller’s 2017-18 Hoosiers
Since the second half of the Nebraska game on December 7, Mike Woodson’s defense is allowing 42.4 points per half and has allowed 40+ points in four straight halves since that game. Since Woodson took over last season, the Hoosiers have allowed 22 40-point halves in 46 games.
To give you perspective, in Archie Miller’s first two seasons (2017-18 to 2018-19), he led the Hoosiers’ defense to allow 26 40-point halves in 65 games. Comparing numbers, of the 92 halves that Indiana has played in for Coach Woodson, the defense has given up 40+ points in 24.0 percent of those halves. Of the 130 halves under Miller, the defense gave up 40+ points in 20.0 percent of those halves.
Defense had been Indiana and Mike Woodson’s calling card as he came to the college game, but the effort and energy have really been lacking by these Hoosiers over the past couple of games and it’s showing on the scoreboard.
