Reason #2: Teri Moren is one of the best women’s college basketball coaches in the country

Geno Auriemma (UConn). Dawn Staley (South Carolina). Tara VanDerveer (Stanford — Indiana alum).

Those are the names of three of the best women’s college basketball coaches in the country currently and Teri Moren belongs on that list after what she’s accomplished in eight seasons at Indiana University.

Moren has led her program to their first 10-0 start since 2018-19 and currently ranks fourth in the AP Top 25 behind only South Carolina, Stanford, and Ohio State. The Hoosiers rank third in the NCAA in field goal percentage (51.1 percent), 11th in scoring (84.0 PPG), seventh in assists (19.5 AST), and seventh in fewest turnovers (11.6 TOV).

The Hoosiers have already notched wins over No. 11 Tennessee on the road and No. 6 North Carolina, winning by double digits in both matchups. Indiana women’s basketball has not beaten multiple top-25 non-conference teams in the regular season since 2019-20.

Teri Moren’s team has not begun a season 10-0 or better since starting the 2018-19 season 10-0, but that season they did not face off against any Top 25 opponents or any Big Ten teams.
