2. Derrick Walker – Senior Forward – #13
2022-23 stats: 4 GP, 27.0 MIN, 16.8 PPG, 9.5 REB, 4.3 OREB, 3.3 TOV, 73.3 FG%, 54.6 FT%
The 25-year-old returned from injury back on November 25 and has been dominating games in the post for the Huskers. Through four games, Walker has already posted two 20-point games and two double-doubles.
Last season, Walker managed zero 20-point performances and three double-doubles in 32 games played. That’s quite the improvement for the fifth-year senior forward.
In his last game against No. 7 Creighton, Walker went up against Ryan Kalkbrenner and led the team in scoring with 22 points on 11-for-16 shooting and grabbed eight rebounds in the winning effort.
Along with his improved scoring, Walker ranks seventh in Division I in offensive rebounds per game at 4.3. Like we saw the Hoosiers struggle on the glass against Rutgers, if we don’t put a body on Walker, he will thrive on the boards.
