Indiana basketball is coming off its best win of the season, taking down No. 18 North Carolina on Wednesday, 77-65, and now turns focus to the Rutgers Scarlet Knights for their first conference game of the 2022-23 season.

Rutgers is coming off a tough road loss against Miami (FL) on Wednesday, the first game of the season that the Scarlet Knights had Caleb McConnell and Clifford Omoruyi as the starters. The downside for them was the offense really struggled without Paul Mulcahy, who has missed four straight games with a shoulder injury.

Paul Mulcahy’s availability for the game against the Hoosiers is still in question. Coach Steve Pikiell had mentioned that “he hasn’t done anything (full-contact practice) yet.” His absence is definitely felt by the Scarlet Knights’ offense and leadership on the floor as a senior point guard.

Here are three Scarlet Knights that the Hoosiers need to target to come out of Piscataway on Saturday with a win:

3. Cam Spencer – Senior Guard – #10

2022-23 stats: 7 GP, 33.4 MIN, 15.3 PPG, 3.9 AST, 3.4 STL, 1.1 TOV, 2.3 3PM, 43.2 3P%

Prior to coming to Rutgers for his senior season, Spencer spent three years with Loyola Maryland and led the Greyhounds in scoring, averaging 18.9 points, 2.0 made threes, and 2.3 steals in 37.0 minutes.

Safe to say Spencer is not scared of some better competition and seems to be stepping up, especially with the Scarlet Knights missing both Caleb McConnell and Paul Mulcahy early on in the season.

Prior to his last game where he scored just three points in a loss to Miami (FL), Spencer has been shooting lights out and has managed at least 15 points and two steals in every game this season. The question is, can he handle the physicality and toughness of the Big Ten or will he crumble under the pressure?
