Tamar Bates breaks out & more Indiana basketball takeaways vs. Jackson State
#1. Tamar Bates finally had a breakout game for the Hoosiers
FINALLY! I’ve been talking Tamar Bates up since he came into Bloomington freshman year from IMG Academy and he finally showed his scoring ability in this breakout game against Jackson State.
Bates posted a career-high 22 points on 8-for-11 (72.7 percent) shooting and shot 4-for-6 (66.7 percent) from beyond the arc, along with two rebounds, and four assists in 24 minutes. Bates looked like a breakout player for the Hoosiers and could show up big in the upcoming contest against the Tar Heels.
Bates has played three games against non-conference major conference teams in his career and averages just 4.3 points on 40.0 percent shooting from the field. Last season, Bates registered 11 points off the bench on 50.0 percent shooting in 26 minutes in the Hoosiers’ win against St. John’s.
