Tamar Bates breaks out & more Indiana basketball takeaways vs. Jackson State
#3. Race Thompson carried over momentum from his last game into this game in limited minutes
In Wednesday’s game against Little Rock, Thompson poured in a season-high 20 points in 30 minutes on 7-for-8 shooting. While that game was really needed by Race for the Hoosiers to pull out the home win, it seems to be exactly what Thompson needed to get going this season.
Prior to Wednesday’s game, Thompson was averaging just 5.5 points, and 4.8 rebounds, and was shooting just 36.0 percent from the field. In Friday’s game, Race posted seven points, four rebounds, three assists, two steals, and two blocks in just 18 minutes.
In his last two games, Thompson is averaging 13.5 points, and 6.0 rebounds, and is shooting 83.3 percent from the field. That’s exactly what Mike Woodson needs from his glue guy alongside Trayce Jackson-Davis.
