Indiana basketball faces off against the Redhawks on Sunday afternoon, hoping to start the season 4-0 with a neutral site win in Indianapolis.

The Hoosiers battled a very talented Xavier team on Friday night in Cincinnati and came out on top with an 81-79 victory. Trayce Jackson-Davis and Xavier Johnson led the way for Indiana and helped this program get its first true road non-conference victory since 2011.

I expected that Jackson-Davis would show up in this game, but did not expect this big of a showing, but was way off the mark with my bold predictions saying Mike Woodson’s defense would hold the Musketeers under 65 points and Jalen Hood-Schifino getting double-digit assists.

With that being said, this trap game for the Hoosiers comes at a tough time after an emotional road victory, the first true test of the season for Indiana basketball.

Here are my three bold predictions for the No. 12 Hoosiers facing off against Miami Ohio on Sunday in Indianapolis:

#3. Xavier Johnson struggles after Friday’s outstanding performance with 5+ turnovers

Xavier Johnson had a magnificent game against Xavier (school) on Friday with 23 points and scored in many different ways. He showed up when it mattered most in this game when nobody else on the Hoosiers roster (besides TJD) was making things happen.

Of course, the senior point guard made his fair share of mistakes, but without X in this game, Indiana basketball doesn’t walk out of Cincinnati with a 3-0 start to the season.

This game will bring us back to reality. Xavier Johnson will come out thinking he is the primary scorer for the Hoosiers and struggle to shoot mightily. I expect Johnson to score less than eight points in this game with at least five turnovers.
