Indiana’s Malik Reneau (5) /

#2. Malik Reneau is a weapon off the bench for Coach Woodson

This kid is only 18 years old. If he’s not off to the NBA Draft by the end of this season, Hoosier Nation would be lucky to see him dominate in a Hoosier uniform for more than one season.

In 17 minutes off the bench, Malik Reneau posted 15 points, five rebounds, one assist, one steal, and two blocks on 6-of-8 shooting. The only downside to his game on Monday night was his four fouls and three turnovers. And honestly, that’s expected from an incoming freshman off the bench for a Division I program.

The patience and confidence are what we didn’t expect. A 6-foot-9 big man that can finish nearly everything around the rim through contact is something we are not used to.

If Reneau isn’t proving to Coach Woodson that he should potentially be in the starting lineup at some point this season, I’m not sure what more he would need to do. Defensively he needs to improve overall without fouling. But offensively, Reneau out-played every single player on the floor Monday night and it wasn’t really close.
