Indiana basketball vs. Saint Francis exhibition: Tune in tonight
After Indiana basketball took down Marian University, 78-42, on Saturday, October 29, the Hoosiers now play their last exhibition game on Thursday, November 3 against Saint Francis.
Yet again, this game will be able to be streamed on BTN+, just like the last exhibition and the first game of the season against Morehead State. Subscribe HERE.
In their first “preseason game” of the season, the Hoosiers dominated from the tip and led at halftime, 43-21. Mike Woodson’s defense did its job, limiting Marian’s offense to just 24.6 percent from the field and 23.5 percent from three-point range.
The Hoosiers offense shot 51.6 percent from the field and knocked down 8-of-19 (42.1 percent) from beyond the arc. Led by Jalen Hood-Schifino, Malik Reneau, and Race Thompson, Indiana looked very good (with some improvements needed) in their first live game action since March.
One of the biggest things I’m looking for in this upcoming exhibition before the season actually starts is Trayce Jackson-Davis and Tamar Bates. Both players sat out the first game after getting “banged up” in practices beforehand. It seems as though both players will be active tonight, which would give us a better idea of the rotations for Woodson.
The expectation is that the starting lineup will be as follows: Xavier Johnson, Jalen Hood-Schifino, Miller Kopp, Race Thompson, and Trayce Jackson-Davis. Coming off the bench first will be the trio of Tamar Bates, Trey Galloway, and Jordan Geronimo, alongside Malik Reneau who had a standout performance in just 18 minutes as a starter against Marian.
I hope to still see Reneau and CJ Gunn get plenty of run in this game as guys that will make immediate impact off the bench as freshman. This Indiana basketball team could be one of the deepest in recent memories, which hopefully bodes well for a potential Big Ten title and beyond!
