The Hoosiers start their 2022-23 season against Morehead State on November 7, which is just 13 days away for Indiana basketball. We are at the 13th player in our roster player previews and next on the list is sophomore guard, Anthony Leal.

Anthony Leal | 6’5″ 200lbs | Sophomore Guard

Last season, Leal served as the eighth or ninth guy off the bench for Mike Woodson and saw some action on the floor, but also spent a lot of the time as the leader of the bench. If Trayce Jackson-Davis threw down a dunk, or if Miller Kopp hit a three-pointer, Leal was there on the bench, flexing for everyone to see and cheering on his team.

As a redshirt freshman, Leal appeared in 17 games, playing 175 total minutes with 33 points and seven made three-pointers. Leal made four of his first six three-point attempts last season and tied his career-high with 34 minutes played. Leal is a very good shooter that could see significant minutes if injuries were to happen and the shooting remains a struggle for Indiana basketball.

From getting his real estate license to improving his jump shot, Leal has been a very busy Hoosier this offseason:

With a deeper Indiana basketball roster this season, Leal will likely see himself as the 11th or 12th man off the bench behind some very impressive freshmen, Trey Galloway, and Tamar Bates. Leal will see fewer appearances in games, but hopefully, the Hoosiers will be beating non-conference and some conference opponents well enough for Leal to get more opportunities to score.

Projected 2022-23 stats: 14 GP, 0 GS, 17 total points, 4 3PM, 44.4 3P%
