Indiana basketball begins the 2022-23 season in two weeks (14 days) and we continue to preview the Hoosiers roster for this exciting season. Next on the list is junior forward, Nathan Childress.

Nathan Childress | 6’6″ 212lbs | Junior Forward

The Academic All-Big Ten honoree from last season has made a good impression on Indiana basketball’s bench and celebrations over the past couple seasons. Childress played in three games last season and scored his first career points (a three-pointer) against Louisiana Monroe. While he won’t see meaningful minutes for the Hoosiers this season, the junior forward can make an impact in practice and on the sideline all throughout the season.

In high school, Childress was one impressive player. He graduated from Zionsville High School in Indiana in 2019 after averaging 14.5 points and 6.9 rebounds as a senior. The forward helped lead his high school team to back-to-back sectional titles and also played for the well-renowned AAU team, Indiana Elite. Though I personally expected more from Childress as a collegiate player, he’s still one of the upperclassmen that have been through a lot with this Indiana basketball program.

Though he will be alongside the end of the bench cheering on Trayce Jackson-Davis and the rest of the players playing significant minutes, Childress will still hopefully get some time on the court in some non-conference games that end in blowouts.

Projected 2022-23 stats: 3 GP, 0 GS, 10 minutes played, 4 total points, 5 total rebounds
