Indiana basketball player preview: Michael Shipp
The Hoosiers start the 2022-23 season in 15 days against Morehead State and previewing the Indiana basketball players continues as we work down the deep roster. Next on the list is junior guard, Michael Shipp.
Michael Shipp | 6’3″ 195lbs | Junior Guard
Since joining the Indiana basketball program in 2019-20, Shipp has appeared in two games, played two total minutes, and has attempted one shot (three-pointer) in 2020-21 against North Alabama. In his sophomore academic year, Shipp was awarded an Academic All-Big Ten honor for his efforts in the classroom.
Before joining the Hoosiers, Shipp was part of a pretty impressive high school program that went 29-0 his senior season. At Archbishop Moeller High School, Shipp was impactful on the court alongside Miles McBride, current New York Knicks guard, averaging 6.0 points, 2.0 rebounds, and 2.0 assists. The undersized guard was lucky enough to fight his way to a walk-on spot for a Division I program.
Though he will be cheering on the bench most of the season, hopefully Indiana basketball will be good enough this season to blow out some teams early on in November and late December and give the junior guard an opportunity to show off his shooting touch that many of us have seen in layup lines before games.
