Indiana football vs. Rutgers: Betting odds & tips for Week 8
As we approach Week 8, Indiana football has lost four straight games and is hoping to take down Rutgers on October 22nd on their homecoming weekend in New Jersey. Whether Hoosier fans like it or not, Tom Allen will be in the hot seat if he cannot take down the Scarlet Knights this Saturday.

Indiana football vs. Rutgers best bet: Indiana ML & Under 47.5 points
My best bet for this Week 8 matchup for the Hoosiers and Scarlet Knights would be taking Indiana football to win (money line) and parlaying that with under 47.5 combined points between the two teams. A $100 parlay bet on Indiana money line and under 47.5 points would potentially bring home a profit of $335.51. That’s a big chunk of dough for an early Saturday afternoon.
I’m putting confidence in Indiana football to win this game against Rutgers for multiple reasons. One is because Tom Allen is 5-1 (.833) against Rutgers since taking over the program in 2017 and has dominated the Scarlet Knights on the road, winning by an average margin of 11.5 points per game. Another reason why is because the Hoosiers are desperate for a win, losing four straight games and three straight conference games.
I’ve explained it a couple times in my previous articles leading up to this matchup, but my reason for taking Indiana football and Rutgers to combine for 47 or less points this week is because I don’t think both teams will score 20+ points. It would shock me if either team reaches between 25 and 30 points, especially since the Hoosiers have held Rutgers to 21 or less points in five of the last six games. Two of the worst offenses in the Big Ten will be hoping for points and battling some tough defensive units on Saturday.
Last week, I went 1-for-2 in my betting tips with giving Indiana 11.5 points (which they covered), but betting the under 62.5 points (71 combined points). I’ve won three of my last four bets over the past two weeks and am hoping for some more success as we rely on a must-win from Tom Allen and the Hoosiers.
