Indiana football travels to Piscataway to take on Rutgers on homecoming weekend and has to keep tabs on certain Scarlet Knights to hope for a win. The Hoosiers are hoping to snap their four-game losing skid.

Rutgers has one of the worst offenses in the country, ranking 104th (out of 131 teams) in total team offense and 111th in total offensive yards per game. Though the defensive backs for Rutgers did not make the list, watch out for them as they’ve totaled eight interceptions in six weeks. The Scarlet Knights rank 37th in Division I in total team defense and top 10 in total team defensive yards allowed per game, thanks to the help of some of the key players below.

3. Tyreem Powell – #22 – LB

2022 stats: 34 total tackles, 20 assisted tackles, 4.0 tackles for loss, 3.0 sacks

Powell ranks with the third most tackles on the team this season, fourth in tackles for loss, and first in total sacks this season. Despite a lackluster performance against Nebraska in his last game, Powell had quite the showing against the best offense in the country at Ohio State, with one sack, one tackle for loss, and a pass defended.

Powell has been making plays for this defense when it matters most, and last season against the Hoosiers Powell had four total tackles and a key interception in the first half, which happened to be the first of his career.
