#2. Tom Allen’s defense limits Scarlet Knights to less than 20 points

If you take away Rutgers game against Wagner in Week 2, the Scarlet Knights are averaging just 14.2 points per game. In their last three losses, Rutgers has not scored more than 13 points in a game and have averaged just 298.7 total yards of offense in those three losses.

For Indiana football, Tom Allen’s defense has allowed 35.8 points per game and 447.0 yards of offense per game in their last five games. All signs would be pointing to a lot of the same for the Hoosiers IF they weren’t playing one of the other worst teams in the Big Ten. Since taking over the Indiana football program in 2017, Tom Allen and his defense have shutout Rutgers twice and, taking away 2021, the Hoosiers have held the Scarlet Knights to just 9.5 points per game.

Let’s hope for a defensive showing by Indiana in Week 8, and hopefully the Hoosiers offense can put some points on the board against one of the worst defenses in the Big Ten.
