Michigan quarterback J.J. McCarthy scrambles away from Iowa’s Lukas Van Ness in the third quarter during a NCAA college football game at Kinnick Stadium in Iowa City on Saturday, Oct. 1, 2022. /

2. J.J. McCarthy – #9 – QB

2022 stats: 66/84 (78.6 pct), 848 passing yards, 6 TD, 0 INT, 186.9 QBR

McCarthy leads all players in all of college football in pass completion percentage and has not thrown an interception all season. The sophomore quarterback has already surpassed his total completions, attempts, yardage, and touchdowns from playing in 11 games last season. Obviously last season, McCarthy was playing as a backup to Cade McNamara, but the sophomore has proven that earned the starting QB spot this season and has looked impressive in his game action.

One of my bold predictions for this game as that Indiana football linebacker, Dasan McCullough, will be getting in the backfield and pressuring McCarthy in this game. With that in mind, McCarthy will have to prove that he can throw the ball with confidence to his playmakers on the outside, Ronnie Bell and others. The Hoosiers’ secondary has been less than impressive this season, so this is a big chance for McCarthy to prove his talent and show what he’s capable of doing with or without a running game.
