Indiana football: Three key Hoosiers from bad loss to Nebraska
There were not many positives to take away from Indiana football going on the road against the struggling Nebraska Cornhuskers. The only major key players in this game were on the defensive side of the ball, along with one offensive player that stood out in my eyes.
Noah Pierre (DB) and Myles Jackson (LB) both had pretty decent games for Tom Allen’s defense, given the fact that Pierre had four tackles, two tackles for loss and two sacks, while Jackson had the fumble recovery in the end zone for the first score of the game for IU.
The defensive back made his presence known, but seemingly wasn’t around the ball enough to make more plays like the other key Hoosiers last weekend.
It seems like Hoosier Nation was just as on the fence about the top Indiana football players from the loss in Lincoln.
Three key Indiana football players vs. Nebraska
#3. Bryant Fitzgerald – DB
Week 5 stats: 8 total tackles, 7 solo tackles, 1 INT
Fitzgerald walked away from this game with probably one of the best defensive plays by a defensive back that we have seen in quite some time. His interception came early in the second half right after Bazelak threw an interception himself. Unfortunately, the turnover turned into nothing due to field position and the ability of the offense to actually move the ball.
The senior DB from Indianapolis finished with the second-most total tackles on the team for the game and ranks third on the Hoosiers for the season in total tackles (32). Fitzgerald has recorded 5+ tackles in four of the five games this season. Unfortunately for Indiana football, the Hoosiers are 0-4 when Fitzgerald records an interception in a game in his career.
