Indiana football opens Week 5 against Nebraska on the road in Lincoln, hoping to bounce back from a disappointing Week 4 loss to Cincinnati. In 2019, the Hoosiers snapped a six-game losing streak to the Cornhuskers, which dated all the way back to 1975. The matchup in 2019 was the first time Nebraska hadn’t been ranked in the top 25 when facing IU since 1959, and the Hoosiers scored 38 points, which is the most scored against the Huskers since scoring 54 in 1945.

Indiana football vs. Nebraska prediction

The Hoosiers are looking to beat Nebraska in consecutive games for the first time since 1959, which I think Tom Allen and Indiana will do on Saturday. Coming off a tough loss to Cincinnati on the road, Nebraska will likely come out with some rust after a weekend off, two weeks after losing to No. 6 Oklahoma at home by five touchdowns.

The biggest question mark for me is whether or not Indiana football comes out slow like they have in each game this season. If they do, Casey Thompson and the Nebraska offense could run away with this game, surprisingly. Casey Thompson and Trey Palmer are talented enough to do damage to Tom Allen’s secondary, just like Ben Bryant and Tyler Scott did a week ago.

With the Cornhuskers ranking as one of the worst run defenses in the country, I expect Shaun Shivers and Josh Henderson to run all over the Huskers’ defense and open up opportunities on the outside for Cam Camper and the passing attack.
