And the 40-day countdown to the Hoosiers tip-off to the 2022-23 season continues as we name the 39th best Indiana basketball player of all-time. Considering all of the great players that have played in Bloomington, leaving off many good players for the school hurts, but it makes sense with who is included, and who is left off.

Indiana basketball career stats: 20.9 PPG, 3.3 RPG, 2.4 APG, 2.2 3PM, 33.7 3P%

Though he only played one season with the Hoosiers, Eric Gordon proved immediately how good of a basketball player he was as a freshman in Bloomington. In his first collegiate game, Gordon poured in 33 points and seven three-pointers against Chattanooga, and that was just the beginning.

As you can see in the video below, Gordon was more than just a shooter in college; he showed off his athleticism and ability to get to the lane with ease. Another standout performance for the freshman was in his first Big Ten game of his career, where Gordon scored at a high level with 25 points and made nine of his 11 free throws that game.

With just one season under his belt, Gordon ranked in the top ten in school history for a single season in the following statistical categories:

Three-point attempts – 208 (tied for 4th)
Free throws made – 231 (3rd)
Free throws attempted – 277 (4th)
Points – 669 (10th)

Gordon has probably had one of the best NBA careers of any Indiana basketball player, entering his 15th NBA season averaging 16.4 PPG and shooting 37.1 percent from behind the arc throughout his career. Gordon has a chance to move into the top 25 for career three-pointers made (1,746), trailing Peja Stojakovic (1,760) who is in the 25th spot.
