Last game: 33-14 win vs. Central Michigan
Next game: Oct. 1 vs. Northwestern

If Penn State played a tougher opponent on Saturday and struggled at all, I would have moved them down to #4 and brought Minnesota into the top 3. But, that didn’t happen. The Nittany Lions controlled the game against Central Michigan, and it wasn’t Nicholas Singleton leading the charge. Sean Clifford had three touchdown passes and the Penn State offense was led by running back, Kaytron Allen, who had 111 rushing yards on 13 attempts and a touchdown.

The Nittany Lions have many threats on offense and it seems like any one of them can take over a game when needed, while the defense has not let up more than 14 points in a game after Week 1. Penn State ranks in the top 25 in total team defense thus far, and should have zero issues handling Northwestern on Saturday; expect a 30+ point spread in that contest.
