Three takeaways from Indiana basketball at 2022 Media Day
#1. Mike Woodson is the leader Indiana basketball needs
Entering his second season as the head coach of the Indiana basketball program, Mike Woodson has high expectations from himself and the rest of the college basketball world. Last season, the former IU standout led his program to a 21-14 record and its first NCAA Tournament berth since 2016.
Let’s just say, it seems like Coach Woodson expects big things this upcoming season for his Hoosiers:
"“I can’t say it loud enough, guys. I came back here to win Big Ten titles and a national title. I’m not gonna push the team in any other direction. If they’re scared of it, they shouldn’t be here.”"
It’s clear as day that the leadership role that Woodson has taken upon himself with the Indiana basketball program is exactly what the school and roster needed. In-game coaching and practices aside, Woodson is also bringing NBA scouts and executives from all 30 NBA teams to an Indiana basketball Pro Day on Friday, October 7, where the upperclassmen and underclassmen will be able to showcase their talents and abilities.
We hope that Coach Woodson is here to stay for the near and distant future, as he clearly has the Indiana basketball program and the players in his best interest as he progresses the program forward into a competitive and hopeful season in 2022-23.
