Mike Woodson and the Indiana basketball staff stepped up their recruiting game even more and offered the number one overall recruit in the 2024 class, Naas Cunningham, on September 13. Cunningham is a junior playing for Overtime Elite after two seasons of playing for Gill St. Bernard’s High School in New Jersey.

The 6-foot-7 forward has a unique skillset, and seemingly will only improve his game even more as he joins Overtime Elite and continues to train with and compete against high level talent. As a sophomore at Gill St. Bernard’s, Cunningham averaged just 13.8 points and 6.8 rebounds for the varsity team, but his athleticism and ability to score at all three levels is impressive for such a young kid.

Cunningham reminds me of a familiar face for Indiana basketball, as his body, finishing ability, and athleticism gives me hints of Romeo Langford, who was the No. 7 recruit in the 2018 class, played one season at Indiana and now plays for the San Antonio Spurs.

The one plus that Cunningham has over Langford is his capability and growing strength of being able to shoot the ball from deep. At times, Cunningham reminds me of a young Kevin Durant, a potentially better version of Jaden McDaniels, and even current Eastern Michigan forward, Emoni Bates.

Check out his highlights, HERE.

Cunningham has a lot of growth to do for his junior and senior seasons. But with offers from 11 other power conference schools, including Duke, Kansas, and UCLA, the junior forward has a lot of potential and would be a huge get for the Indiana basketball program in the 2024 class.
