2023 3-star EDGE, AJ Thomas, commits to Indiana football program

After a Week 2 win against Idaho, the Indiana football program added another 3-star recruit from the 2023 class, AJ Thomas, an edge rusher from Cedar Creek High School. Though he is just ranked as the 49th best EDGE in the nation, Thomas shows flashes of potentially being one of the best rushers for the Indiana football program in the near future.

Thomas is the 25th highest ranked recruit in Louisiana and, yet again, Tom Allen and the Indiana football program strike in the south. Thomas did not hold any other power conference offers, but his top three programs that he nailed down just a couple days ago included Indiana football and two in-state schools: Louisiana Tech and Tulane.

While Thomas chose the Hoosiers for his future, the turnover one the defensive side of the ball after this season will be important and probably made the biggest impact for Thomas’ decision. He will be joining Dasan McCullough as one of the younger players that are looking to continue the dominance of the Indiana football defense moving forward.

“Red” Thomas seems to be a very good pass rusher and can get through a less-than-talented offensive line. Though it will be tougher against a typically strong offensive line in the Big Ten, Thomas will need to continue to improve on his rush game and setting the edge as best as he can. Working with Kasey Teegardin, the outside linebackers coach, who was his primary contact for recruiting, Thomas should see major strides once he arrives in Bloomington.
