On November 30th, Indiana basketball will be taking on the 2022 NCAA Tournament runner-up, North Carolina Tar Heels, in an epic ACC/B1G challenge non-conference matchup. When the Hoosiers face the Tar Heels on November 30th, it will mark the six-year anniversary from when Indiana basketball beat UNC, 76-67, in Bloomington on November 30th, 2016.

Indiana will be opening up the 2022-23 season against five below-average opponents, along with matching up with former Indiana head coach, Archie Miller’s brother, Sean Miller, and Xavier on November 18th before playing UNC. After battling the Tar Heels, the Hoosiers will travel to Las Vegas to play Arizona, then onto Lawrence, Kansas to take on the 2022 defending champions, Kansas Jayhawks. North Carolina and Kansas are both projected to be top 10 opponents when IU matches up with them, which just goes to show the impressive non-conference schedule for Mike Woodson and the Hoosiers.

Indiana basketball and North Carolina will be playing each other with two of the best frontcourts in all of college basketball, with Trayce Jackson-Davis and Armando Bacot headlining the game. Jackson-Davis and Bacot are friends, and after what UNC was able to accomplish in the tournament last season, the two bigs will be going at each other while guard play will be important for both programs this season.

The CBKReport ranked the top 10 non-conference college basketball games for 2022-23 and included Indiana vs. North Carolina as the #8 best non-conference game of the upcoming season. While I believe the game will be one of the top three non-conference games of 2022-23, the games ranked ahead of IU and UNC are understandable, with Gonzaga vs. Kentucky ranked first overall and Baylor vs. Gonzaga, 2021 championship rematch, ranks second for the season. John Calipari and Kentucky are included the most in this ranking as they appear four times in the top 10, facing off against Gonzaga, Kansas, UCLA, and Michigan.
