Adama Sanogo, 6’9″ 250lbs, Junior Forward
2021-22 Stats: 14.8 pts/g, 8.8 reb/g, 1.9 blk/g, 24.5 PER

Andre Jackson Jr., 6’6″ 210lbs, Junior Forward
2021-22 Stats: 6.8 pts/g, 6.8 reb/g, 1.2 stl/g, 14.4 PER

Primarily focused around Adama Sanogo, the Huskies’ frontcourt will again dominate the Big East, even if the team as a whole will drop off after last season. UConn was undefeated at 8-0 (1.000) when Sanogo recorded 20+ points last season and recorded three games last season with 6+ blocks. The 6-foot-9 forward is the first Huskies’ player to notch 20+ points, 15+ rebounds, and 6+ blocks in a single game since Hasheem Thabeet did so in 2009.

Though Tyrese Martin was selected in the 2022 NBA Draft, Coach Dan Hurley still has Andre Jackson as his defensive leader, who had 11 games last season with 2+ steals and led the Huskies in steals (38) and defensive rebounds (181).

Comparing to the Indiana basketball frontcourt

TJD and Thompson match up very well with Sanogo and Jackson Jr., but the Hoosiers come out on top for many reasons. For one, offensively, TJD and Thompson combined are much more offensively fluent and play well off of each other, while Sanogo dominates the ball offensively and Jackson Jr. is the anchor defensively. Yes, we are comparing frontcourts, but guards also play a factor, and the Hoosiers’ guards are better overall than UConn.
