On the opening day of 2022 Big Ten Media Days, Indiana football head coach Tom Allen will take the stand, along with senior cornerback Tiawan Mullen, super senior linebacker Cam Jones, and junior tight end AJ Barner, as they are representing the Hoosiers program on July 26.

The focus of most of the questions surrounding the Indiana football program will be the potential trajectory of what’s to come: Was the atrocious 2-10 (.167) 2021 season just a bump in the road for the Hoosiers or was it the beginning of the end for IU’s run at becoming relevant in college football? These are the biggest questions for Tom Allen and Indiana football at Big Ten Media Days.

#5. With Tom Allen taking back control of the play calling duties on defense, what type of impact will new defensive coordinator/linebackers coach Chad Wilt have on the Indiana football program in his first season?

The Hoosier-born Chad Wilt was hired as the defensive coordinator and linebackers coach for the Indiana football program in January 2022. Wilt had spent his previous two seasons as a defensive line coach for Minnesota, which finished last season as the sixth best scoring defense (17.3 points) in the nation, along with the eighth fewest rushing yards (97.8 yards) and passing yards (181.2) in the nation.

Prior to 2020, Wilt spent one season as a defensive line coach with Cincinnati and led the Bearcats to the best total defense in the American Athletic Conference and coached the team to post 31 total sacks and 96 tackles for loss.
