IU Basketball is looking up and up.

Mike Woodson has done an outstanding job rebuilding this team on the fly this past spring and summer. He kept the majority of the core of last year’s team, Woody added some impressive names from the transfer portal, and he recruited current high schoolers to join Bloomington in the coming years.

The Hoosiers added another top talent to their future trails this week. Mike Woodson and his coaching staff, this time assisted by Kenya Hunter, made it a priority to sign Jalen Hood-Schifino.

Hood-Schifino joins C.J. Gunn and Kaleb Banks in Indiana’s 2022 recruitment class. Jalen is a 4-star recruit from the powerhouse Montverde Academy. The Academy has famously produced big NBA names alike all over the league and the Hoosiers got a good one in Hood-Schifino.

Jalen is a combo guard who’s 6’4 and can take the ball up the court and lead an offense. He is a consensus top-35 player in his class according to ESPN, 247Sports, and Rivals. He is an exciting, flashy player with a knack for making big plays.

He has great handles and he can blow by or around any defender. He’s very hard to steal the ball from and he’s got a sweet stroke from three. He is exactly what the chef ordered for Mike Woodson’s program.

It’s another big recruiting win for Woody as he keeps building up his alma mater. Indiana is reestablishing its credibility in the national eye in the pursuit of its 6th National Championship banner.

Jalen Hood-Schifino will fit in perfectly with Indiana’s new-look team. He is the ideal modern player who can space the floor and attack from any angle. He is a high-intensity defender who plays with controlled aggression and is a stymying perimeter player.

Indiana is set up nicely for its immediate and short-term future. They should have plenty of guard options to choose from and attack Big 10 teams. After dominating Peach Jam in the summer, watch for Jalen to go even higher in the rankings heading into his senior year. Hood-Schifino is a name all Hoosier fans should know and pencil down for 2022.
