Indiana just got some good news on Friday when it picked up a commitment from 2022 recruit, Kaleb Banks. Banks is a 6-8, 215 pound forward, with a 7-2 wingspan, from Fayetteville, Georgia. 247Sports lists him as a 4-star player, and they rate him as the 124th best player in the 2022 class.

I have been keeping my eye on Indiana’s recruiting effort and I had felt like Banks was maybe the most likely player in the class of 2022 to end up in Indiana’s fold.

light. Related Story. Kaleb Banks announced his commitment to Indiana on his Twitter account on Friday.

This is a good pick-up for Mike Woodson and the Indiana staff. Banks was also considering Alabama, Clemson, Georgia, and Georgia Tech. Beating out Nate Oats and Alabama, with the way they have it rolling, (pun intended) is a big win for the Hoosiers. Especially since the scholarship offer from Indiana came months after Alabama had extended theirs. In this case, the early birds didn’t get the worm. Thankfully.

What kind of player is Kaleb Banks? 247 Sports recruiting analyst Eric Bossi had this to say about Banks:

"“A lean and wiry strong junior, Banks is in the 6’7/6’8” range, doesn’t lack for confidence and has impressive physical tools. He’s a toughness guy whose skill has really developed whether it be in the post, going off the dribble or making decisions. His game is about versatility….”"

From the video I have watched, I really like Banks’ ballhandling skills for his size. He has a nice pull-up jumper, and what looks to be a nice shooting touch. All of that looks like a great fit for a Mike Woodson 4-out, 1-in type of offense.

Kaleb average 23.5 points per game as a junior at Fayette County High School. He also added 8.5 rebounds and shot 38% from the three-point line.

Banks joins Indianapolis native CJ Gunn on Indiana’s 2022 commitment list. Gunn is 6-5 guard from Lawrence North High School.

The combination of the two gives Indiana another two players with good size and versatility on the offensive end.

I’m feeling much better about Indiana’s 2022 class with the addition of Banks. With Indiana still in the running for some very good prospects, Woodson could end up with a very good first recruiting class. Hopefully, he has a little more magic up his sleeve.
