Indiana Basketball: Trey Kaufman to announce decision October 30th
Indiana Basketball target Trey Kaufman has a decision date
In-state prospect Trey Kaufman has been a priority for Archie Miller for quite some time now, and we are reaching the end of the road in his recruitment. Kaufman announced that he will be making his decision on October 30th.
Purdue, North Carolina, Virginia, and Indiana State are the other four schools on Kaufman’s list. However, Sam Story — a must-follow on Twitter for all IU fans — always has an inside scoop.

I have yet to see Story get one Indiana-related prediction wrong, and I don’t expect this to be any different. This is huge news for Indiana. Purdue may very well come away with Kaufman, but they do already have forward Caleb Furst in the class of 2021. They could play together, but Kaufman would be a better fit with Indiana’s roster than he would with Furst at Purdue.
247Sports analyst Mike Pegram has predicted Kaufman to the Hoosiers in the 247 Crystal Ball. Pegram is 10/10 lifetime on predictions and typically only makes them once he already knows the result.
It is going to be a tense next few days for Hoosier fans. My personal opinion is that Kaufman, should he commit to IU, would be the best recruit in the Archie Miller tenure — better than Trayce Jackson-Davis and Romeo Langford.
It is also my opinion that Kaufman has the chance to be an excellent NBA player if he could put everything together. His athleticism and body type is the perfect fit for the modern NBA and he has the skill set to match it.
Hoosier fans should mark October 30th on their calendars. It will either be celebration or heartbreak. There could hardly be worse torture than seeing a guy this talented and this coveted play for your worst nemesis.
