Indiana Football: Top 5 quarterbacks since 2000

1. Nate Sudfeld (2012-2015) – 4 seasons

  • Career Stats: 38 games (17- 21)  win percentage of 44.74%
    • 7879 passing yards, 61 touchdowns / 21 interceptions

Nate Sudfeld no doubt should be number one. The man who owns about every school record at Indiana.  A 6’6″ quarterback from California as a 4-star recruit came into Indiana with no expectations.

His sophomore year however he won the starting job and never looked back. Bursting on to the scene with 2,500 passing yards and 21 touchdowns to only nine interceptions. An injury held him back his junior year as he only played seven games. however, in his last season, Sudfeld would crush the record books.

Sudfeld came out slinging his senior year throwing for over 300+ yards in two of his first three games of the season. He would end up throwing his way to 3,573 yards on the year.

Even with Sudfelds ability to launch the balls downfield, it didn’t lead too many turnovers unlike other players on this list. Only throwing seven interceptions to 27 touchdowns his senior year, he did a great job of protecting the football. Sudfeld was able to get IU back to a bowl game ultimately falling to Duke. He was drafted by the Redskins and would go on to win a super bowl with the Eagles.

Sudfeld undoubtedly is the G.O.A.T for Indiana quarterbacks and a talent Indiana may never get again. So it’s important to look back and appreciate how great he was for the Cream and Crimson.
