Indiana Basketball is in pursuit of Bryce Hopkins once again

When class of 2021 forward Bryce Hopkins announced his decision to de-commit from Louisville this past week, Archie Miller wasted no time getting reacquainted. The ongoing ambiguity stemming from the penalties of the Rick Pitino era caused Hopkins to reconsider his school of choice, and Indiana is once again a potential destination for the Illinois native.

Hopkins is a 6’7” 220 lbs forward who would give Indiana some nice versatility on the front line. It is no secret that the Hoosiers’ frontcourt will be lacking in two seasons with the loss of Joey Brunk and potentially Trayce Jackson-Davis should he choose to enter the NBA Draft. As it stands now, the only big guys on the roster in the 2021 season are Logan Duncomb and Race Thompson.

Archie Miller is focusing on replenishing frontcourt talent in his recruiting class of 2021. Indiana local Trey Kaufman remains priority number one, and Mason Miller (son of former NBA player Mike Miller) is also in the mix for IU. Hopkins now joins this group, and with Kaufman potentially beginning to slip away, it is imperative the Hoosiers strongly pursue him.

Since he hasn’t been on many fan’s radars, let’s revisit what makes Bryce Hopkins unique as a player and what he would bring to the table for Indiana.
