Wins – Northwestern, Rutgers, Maryland, Nebraska

Loss –  Michigan, Ohio State, Penn State, Indiana, Minnesota, Iowa

It was a terrible year in 2019 for the Spartans. Armed with one of the best defenses in the conference they thought they would be able to compete. Instead after squeaking out a win against Indiana they just completely fell apart and couldn’t stop anyone.

Their offense was horrible and their defense just continued to get worse as the season went on. They then lost Mark Dantonio abruptly resigned right before national signing day and left the Spartans scratching their heads. They brought in Mel Tucker from Colorado and he like Schiano is doing a great job recruiting but it will be a few years before we see that come to fruition.

The good news for Michigan State fans is they can’t be any worse at quarterback as Brian Lewerke couldn’t do much of anything in the last two years. Rocky Lombardi will take his place and will look to lead the Spartans back to the top of the Big Ten.

This is still a team that will try to find its identity under new head coach Mel Tucker. Playing in the East is never easy but this year it could be especially tough with the emergence of Indiana. The Spartans struggle this year but will be back soon.
