#2 Indiana

Wow, Indiana doesn’t get number one on a list done by an Indiana blog? Nope. The Hoosiers’ updated look made them a neck-and-neck competitor with number one, but I just couldn’t do it. We’ll get to that in a second.

The update to the uniforms a few years ago took away the double shoulder stripes and gave the red some new life. The double stripes were starting to look a little dated, and not in a good way. The stripes were replaced by a simple neckline and some improved text. It lets the red and white shine through. The cream and crimson is the star of this jersey, as it should be.

The stars signifying championships on the rear is a nice touch, and the double stripes on the shorts add the uniform what other teams’ jerseys (Rutgers) are lacking. It’s undeniably old-school, but not so much so that it looks like you’d find it in your grandpa’s attic. It is a great fit for Indiana and shows that you don’t have to do much to a jersey to make it look good. Don’t get me wrong, it’s undoubtedly a top-10 look in college basketball as a whole, but number one on the list is just a little bit better.

#1 Michigan

There are a few things that give Michigan a slight edge over Indiana. Before you start hate-tweeting me, just hear me out. First of all, Michigan has the Jordan Brand logo on their jerseys, which make anything basketball-related look cooler. Jordan uniforms are exclusive, and having the G.O.A.T. on your chest means something.

They capitalized on that Jordan opportunity perfectly by doing very little. All the jersey consists of is collar stripes, arm stripes, and stripes at the bottom of the shorts. Their blue and white jerseys are very slightly different. The stripes on the white jerseys are blue and feature a thin yellow stripe to accompany the white between the blue. The blue jerseys have just yellow stripes.

On the shorts, in addition to the excellent stripe work at the bottom, is the bold Michigan “M”. It works really well with an otherwise simple jersey. Michigan checks all the boxes for being simple, iconic, and modern without being too exotic. They are in the discussion for top three jerseys in all of college basketball. Simply put, these jerseys are nearly flawless and should never be changed.
